Day-by-day itinerary

Route: Entebbe → Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary → Murchison Falls → Entebbe

1. Day 1

   Arrival in Entebbe

   Meet the Land Rail team and settle in, using the day for rest or a confirmed short activity suited to arrival time and the children’s ages. Entebbe is the lakeside town on the Lake Victoria shore that serves Uganda's international airport. Entebbe sits on a peninsula in Lake Victoria and is the standard entry and exit point for Ugandan itineraries. This is a joining departure, so the safari vehicle is shared with other guests. Dinner and overnight are at your hotel in Entebbe.

2. Day 2

   Entebbe via Ziwa to Murchison Falls

   After breakfast you leave Entebbe and travel on toward Murchison Falls via Ziwa, travelling north through Ziwa and the Masindi road country. Lunch and check-in come first, then an afternoon drive through open savanna, borassus palms and the Victoria Nile forcing through a narrow rock gorge. Your guide works the area for elephant, giraffe, lion, hippo, crocodile and Uganda kob, with sightings varying by season and conditions. At Murchison the Nile is squeezed through a gap only a few metres wide before dropping to the valley below, and a launch trip runs to the base of the falls. Dinner and overnight are at your camp or lodge in Murchison Falls.

3. Day 3

   Murchison Falls Game Drive and Nile Cruise

   Combine a family-paced savanna drive with the confirmed Victoria Nile boat programme, following all guide and safety instructions. The surroundings take in open savanna, borassus palms and the Victoria Nile forcing through a narrow rock gorge. Species commonly associated with the area include elephant, giraffe, lion, hippo, crocodile and Uganda kob. Dinner and overnight are at your accommodation in Murchison Falls.

4. Day 4

   Full-Day Murchison Falls Safari

   Use a second day for shorter game-drive windows and an approved waterfall viewpoint or alternative park activity. The drives cover open savanna, borassus palms and the Victoria Nile forcing through a narrow rock gorge, moving between habitats as conditions change. Species commonly associated with the area include elephant, giraffe, lion, hippo, crocodile and Uganda kob. Days here commonly pair a northern-bank game drive with an afternoon boat trip on the Nile. At Murchison the Nile is squeezed through a gap only a few metres wide before dropping to the valley below, and a launch trip runs to the base of the falls. You return to your camp or lodge for dinner and a third night at Murchison Falls.

5. Day 5

   Murchison Falls to Entebbe

   Bags are loaded after breakfast and you depart Murchison Falls bound for Entebbe, following the lakeshore road from Kampala. On arrival in Entebbe you check in, and the rest of the day is at leisure ahead of the next leg of the journey. Entebbe sits on a peninsula in Lake Victoria and is the standard entry and exit point for Ugandan itineraries. Dinner and overnight are at your hotel in Entebbe.

6. Day 6

   Departure from Entebbe

   Keep the final day flexible around the family’s flight time, with a private airport transfer included in the confirmed arrangements. There is a last chance to enjoy the lakeside town on the Lake Victoria shore that serves Uganda's international airport before you leave. The pick-up time is confirmed in advance to match your flight, with luggage collected from your room. Your Land Rail arrangements end with the drop-off for your onward journey.
