Day-by-day itinerary

Route: Entebbe / Kampala → Queen Elizabeth National Park → Kazinga Channel → Kyambura Gorge → Entebbe / Kampala

1. Day 1

   Entebbe / Kampala to Queen Elizabeth National Park

   After breakfast you leave Entebbe / Kampala and travel on toward Queen Elizabeth National Park, crossing the equator and descending into the western Rift Valley. After check-in and a chance to freshen up, you head out into savanna, crater lakes and the Kazinga Channel linking Lake Edward and Lake George. Your guide works the area for elephant, buffalo, hippo, Uganda kob and, in the Ishasha sector, lions sometimes seen in fig trees, with sightings varying by season and conditions. A boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel gives close views of hippo pods, buffalo and one of the densest concentrations of water birds in the region. This is a joining departure, so the safari vehicle is shared with other guests. Dinner and overnight are at your camp or lodge in Queen Elizabeth National Park.

2. Day 2

   Queen Elizabeth Game Drive and Kazinga Channel Cruise

   Take an early game drive, then join the confirmed Kazinga Channel boat cruise for wildlife and bird viewing from the water. This is savanna, crater lakes and the Kazinga Channel linking Lake Edward and Lake George. There is the possibility of seeing elephant, buffalo, hippo, Uganda kob and, in the Ishasha sector, lions sometimes seen in fig trees, though sightings are never guaranteed. This is a joining departure, so the safari vehicle is shared with other guests. Dinner and overnight are at your accommodation in Queen Elizabeth.

3. Day 3

   Queen Elizabeth Game Drive and Kyambura Gorge Chimpanzee Tracking

   Complete a morning wildlife drive and the permit-dependent Kyambura Gorge chimpanzee tracking activity with the authorised ranger team. This is savanna, crater lakes and the Kazinga Channel linking Lake Edward and Lake George. Species commonly associated with the area include elephant, buffalo, hippo, Uganda kob and, in the Ishasha sector, lions sometimes seen in fig trees. Permit availability is confirmed before the booking is finalised, and tracking follows the park authority's rules on the day. The evening is spent at your Queen Elizabeth accommodation, with dinner and overnight there.

4. Day 4

   Queen Elizabeth to Entebbe / Kampala

   You leave Queen Elizabeth after breakfast and head for Entebbe / Kampala, following the lakeshore road from Kampala. You reach Entebbe or Kampala in the afternoon, with the final stretch of road giving time to look back over the journey. Entebbe sits on a peninsula in Lake Victoria and is the standard entry and exit point for Ugandan itineraries. The day ends with a drop-off in Entebbe or Kampala at your hotel or the airport.
