Day-by-day itinerary
Day 1
Arrival in Arusha or Moshi
Meet the mountain team, complete the briefing and gear check, and prepare for the climb.
Day 2
Machame Gate to Machame Camp
Register at Machame Gate and climb through the forest to Machame Camp.
Day 3
Machame Camp to Shira Camp
Ascend from the forest into moorland and continue to the Shira area.
Day 4
Shira via Lava Tower to Barranco
Climb high toward Lava Tower for acclimatisation, then descend to Barranco Camp.
Day 5
Barranco to Karanga
Cross the Barranco Wall and continue through the southern circuit to Karanga Camp.
Day 6
Karanga to Barafu
Ascend to Barafu Camp and prepare for the overnight summit attempt.
Day 7
Barafu to Uhuru Peak Attempt and Mweka
Attempt Uhuru Peak when conditions permit, then descend through Barafu toward Mweka Camp.
Day 8
Mweka to Mweka Gate
Complete the descent to Mweka Gate and transfer to Arusha or Moshi.
